Vending machine

Vending telemetry continuously transmits a machine's sales and condition data to a platform. At Costa Express, Device Insight's software reads out the data that the integrated computer already collects for operation and sends it via the cellular network. An escalation system with several alarm levels reports technical faults or a shortage of coffee or milk to the right contact. At the same time, the number of coffees sold can be counted reliably.

A connected kiosk works as a mini canteen: companies use it to offer employees or customers fresh food and drinks between meals. Livello's Smart Kiosk is essentially an automated refrigerator that recognises items and users and records who took out or put back which item and when. Sensors monitor temperature, humidity and the fill level of the compartments, and the platform triggers restocking.

Sensors report the fill level of each compartment, and the platform triggers deliveries itself. In Livello's Smart Kiosk, an edge device aggregates the data and sends it to the cloud via the cellular network, and restocking is ordered via SAP. Drivers get an app with route planning and a list of the goods to load. Machine learning forecasts sales at each location, and new stock arrives when only a small remainder is left.

The Smart Kiosk concept can be scaled up to a walk-in smart container that works as a miniature supermarket. Customers pay via NFC or even fully automatically via Bluetooth Low Energy when they leave. Livello manages restocking via SAP: drivers get an app with route planning and a list of the goods to load, and new stock arrives when only a small remainder is left in the machine.
