Process water
In process water treatment with IoT, systems continuously measure values such as free chlorine, pH and conductivity and make them available to operators and service teams. Water quality can be proven at any time and maintenance planned as needed.

Process water treatment: prove water quality at any time
The INNOWATECH Aquadron system produces the disinfectant Anolyte by membrane cell electrolysis and treats drinking, cooling and process water. The Data Coffee Connector links the system plug-and-play, supporting Modbus TCP/IP, OPC UA and MQTT as well as proprietary protocols of controllers such as Siemens or Beckhoff. Edge devices analyse the data as it is read, store it locally first and send it to the cloud when required, so an internet connection is not essential. In aquaculture, sensors measure the temperature, light and oxygen content of the water. Software then controls water temperature, water pumps and feeding. The control units exchange data via MQTT, and all values go to the Cloudflight cloud.
The examples come from energy and environment, mechanical and plant engineering and agriculture, with use cases such as audit reporting and remote reading. With Data Coffee, INNOWATECH from Empfingen provides its customers and service technicians with historical and current operating data on mobile devices. Customers use it to monitor water quality, document the dosing of disinfectants and meet regulatory requirements. Technicians are deployed when there is actual need. The Austrian start-up Blue Planet Ecosystems monitors and controls its LARA container aquaculture remotely with Cloudflight.
Process water treatment: frequently asked questions
Which values does process water disinfection monitor?
In disinfection with the INNOWATECH Aquadron system, free chlorine, pH and conductivity are measured continuously. The system produces the active agent Anolyte by membrane cell electrolysis and treats drinking, cooling and process water. The readings show whether the treated water meets the required quality standards. Via the Data Coffee Connector, they are also available to customers who are not on site.
How can food processing water treatment be documented?
Documentation works when the system automatically records its measurement and dosing data and makes it available for analysis. The Aquadron system is also used to reduce germs in food production and processing. INNOWATECH customers have to prove compliance with regulations and the dosing of disinfectants. The Data Coffee Connector reads the data, analyses it directly and provides historical and current values.
How is industrial water treatment connected to IT systems?
One way is a connector that reads the system's control data and passes it on to the existing IT. The Data Coffee Connector supports standard protocols and proprietary controllers and is ready for operation within a short time. Even employees from other departments can create data connections via the user interface. At INNOWATECH, each system is also represented as a digital twin in the ERP system, which is used to manage service.
How does remote water treatment plant monitoring work?
Edge devices read the system's control data, evaluate it directly and make it available to operators and service teams on mobile devices. With the Data Coffee Connector, data is first stored locally and only sent to the cloud when required, so an internet connection is not essential. INNOWATECH technicians see historical and current operating data and are deployed when there is actual need instead of carrying out regular checks.

Compressed air
Compressed air leak detection with IoT continuously measures flow, pressure and compressor load, revealing leaks and unused running times. This cuts the cost of one of the most expensive forms of energy in manufacturing.
Indoor air
Indoor air quality monitoring with IoT means sensors continuously record CO₂, fine dust, particles, temperature and humidity and report limit violations immediately. Operators protect employees, safeguard product quality and heat and ventilate according to demand.
Drinking water
Water network leak detection for drinking water continuously measures pressure, flow and consumption with IoT and reports deviations immediately. Utilities find leaks, pipe bursts and water theft sooner and lose less drinking water.
Groundwater
Groundwater monitoring with IoT measures levels automatically and transmits them by radio to a platform. Authorities, utilities, construction sites and businesses with their own well replace manual measurements and are alerted to critical water levels or pump faults.
Wastewater
Wastewater flow measurement, levels and water quality can be recorded with IoT directly at pipes, basins and discharge points. Operators see wastewater volumes in real time, respond faster to faults and meet reporting obligations without daily sampling.
Molten metal
In foundry melting and vacuum metallurgy, IoT continuously records the melt pool, fill level, temperature and pressure of molten metal. Deviations show up before a batch becomes unusable or a furnace runs empty.
