Laser system
For laser micromachining systems, IoT makes the condition, key figures and faults of every laser system visible in real time. Customers and manufacturers communicate directly, service requests are handled faster and downtime is shorter.

Laser micromachining: system status and service in one app
In the solution example, Kontron AIS's EquipmentCloud is the foundation: a service platform with an integrated knowledge base that collects and analyses all system-related data. A mobile app for Android and iOS is built on it. Customers see the system status in real time, along with throughput, availability and utilisation as well as current and past faults. Push notifications report machine stoppages and upcoming maintenance. Through the integrated service desk, customers start requests, track their processing status and order upgrades or service visits around the clock.
The user is InnoLas Solutions from Upper Bavaria, a globally active machine builder offering customised process solutions for micro material processing with lasers. Previously, service requests arrived by phone or email and first had to be forwarded to the right contact. With the app, the service response time has been shortened considerably, downtime is falling and the availability of the connected machines has improved significantly. In podcast episode 156, SITEC and in.hub show how they use the connACT platform and IoT gateways to record the energy consumption of machines, for example at Webasto.

Connected laser systems: frequently asked questions
What does a service app bring to laser machine service?
It shortens service response times because customers submit requests directly and in a structured way. At InnoLas Solutions, service requests used to come in by phone and email and had to be forwarded manually. With the app based on EquipmentCloud, customers start requests in the integrated service desk, see the processing status at any time and can order upgrades or service visits.
Which key figures of a laser system are visible in the app?
The app shows the system's throughput, availability and utilisation in real time. It also displays the current system status as well as current and past faults. Technicians and managers thus keep track of all the important key figures of their machines. The foundation is Kontron AIS's EquipmentCloud, which collects and analyses all system-related data and information.
How does the operator learn about a fault on the laser system?
Via push notifications that report machine stoppages and upcoming maintenance immediately. The InnoLas Solutions and Kontron AIS app keeps technicians and managers informed of current faults while on the move and shows the history of past cases. Because service is available around the clock and customers communicate directly with the machine builder, downtime falls.
Can the energy consumption of machines such as laser systems also be recorded?
Yes, in podcast episode 156, SITEC and in.hub show how the energy consumption of machines is recorded and analysed in real time. SITEC uses its connACT platform for this, while in.hub's IoT gateways with the SIINEOS operating system connect the machines. This reveals potential savings and helps optimise operating times, for example at customer Webasto.

Pump
Pump monitoring with IoT records vibration, temperature, pressure and energy consumption of running pumps. Operators detect damage and faults before a pump fails and plan maintenance by condition rather than at fixed intervals.
Compressor
With IoT, compressor maintenance follows actual condition: sensors record current consumption, pressure, temperature and running times. Operators detect creeping damage and unused running time early and cut energy and service costs.
Electric motor
Motor condition monitoring with IoT continuously measures the vibration, temperature and current draw of electric motors. Operators detect imbalance, bearing damage or winding faults early and replace motors based on condition rather than after a failure.
Packaging machine
OEE software automatically records run times, downtime, speed and rejects on packaging machines from the machine signals. Operators see where their lines lose performance, and machine builders use the same data for remote access and digital services.
Refrigeration system
A refrigeration monitoring system makes service plannable: temperatures, refrigerant circuit pressures, compressor status and energy consumption flow into a platform in real time. Operators and service partners detect faults early, avoid unnecessary site visits and reduce excess consumption.
Air conditioning system
Commercial air conditioning systems in offices, retail branches and data centres can be monitored remotely with IoT. Operators see energy consumption, temperatures and faults in one place, detect failing compressors or refrigerant shortages early and plan service visits precisely.
